COLOURWORXX is an experimental multimedia exploration of colour from Colour Your City

A full-spectrum exploration of colour around the world, exploring real and imaginal cities, landscapes, design, music, culture and the arts.

Join the voyage, which so far has encompassed radio and events, with much more to come.

  • Social art origins: We were supported by the Social Art Network and Kickstarter – as part of their joint initiative to launch social art projects on the platform – to launch a crowdfunding campaign to distil and expand our knowledge around colour.

  • The emergence of Pink Portals: We took our thematic starting point from our spatial design project at The Cause, where artist Antonis Papamichael transformed a black box room into a pink neon CAD-gaming-rave space (pictures and more info below).

  • Publication on the way: Antonis Papamichael is also responsible for the stunning concept artwork, and we can’t wait to share much more with you..

  • On air: For now, we’re delighted to share our radio show archive, so far mostly on Netil Radio - one of London’s top community stations. Our radio shows have been genre-fluid, often with special guests for Colour Chats (from sound healers to artists, architects and musicians), discussions and colour news.

Here are some pictures from our landmark project at The Cause, which helped spark our first season of Pink Portals exploration for COLOURWORXX. Huge respect to artist Antonis Papamichael for leading the redesign, and creating an iconic room for the Tottenham DIY venue.

This launch event explored the neon city, the enduring appeal of retrowave, and clubs being portals to other realities too.

Colour Your City collaborated with The OS Community, Train Journey Music and True Color to provide a genre-crossing experience. Blending visual and sonic art, the event featured the unveiling of Room 2 from Antonis Papamicheal, alongside an exhibition of work from Hannah Iheoma Place, Greg Abbott, Tree Carr and Wumzum. There was also live art, a workshop, open mic and digital art immersion.

The Cause is a DIY space which celebrates dance music culture, London nightlife, independent business and positive mental health. Their meanwhile use Tottenham site was a former car mechanics depot with a thriving ecosystem of independent business and community radio station Threads. Thanks to Maneki Collective for many of the photographs.

ART WORXX from Colour Your City brought together artists from across disciplines to transform space and maximise its creative potential, facilitating collaboration, artist development, creative skill sharing, and participatory opportunities for expression and development. It’s a format we’d love to do again.
