Creative Facilitator

Colour Activations: Installations, Interventions, Walks & Workshops

I produce and facilitate experiential Colour Workshops, Walks, Activations, Installations, Interventions and Conversations with diverse audiences, to help people connect with their own creativity, stories, communities, imagination and places.

Through public discourse and sharing about colour, providing tools for exploration, art materials for making, and facilitating colour experiences to help people see, feel and tune into colour in new ways and expand their creative capacity.

Commissions:

Festival of Industry for Enfield Council (2023/24): a colour-based celebration of local industry through workshops and field research. Resulting in a special colour palette (postcard and online archive), plus a short film.

As part of the Festival of Industry – delivered by Enfield Council and funded by the Arts Council’s Place Partnership initiative – Cath Carver delivered a creative conversation and workshop series at BLOQS, Forty Hall and the Dugdale Arts Centre. Colour connections to local industry were explored, through storytelling paired with drawing, collage and mixed media making.

These colour stories (plus field research) went into a final colour PALETTE EN:IN, highlighting stories of Enfield’s rich industrial heritage, dynamic present and future envisioning. Available as an online story archive and printed postcard.

Crimson Portrait

A short film was also made of one of the colour stories with local dancer/choreographer Joshua Nash.

Colour Your Canal for Hinterlands Enfield from the Canal & River Trust (2024): a collaboration with Doodle Designs to conduct workshops with pupils from Alyward Academy, and produce a colour activation during the Festival of the Lea.

The outcomes were:

  • Resources for local young people to engage with colour, place and the canal.

  • An accessible public colour intervention on the towpath using spray chalks at the festival.

Few more examples of delivering workshops and installations :)

Collaborative Spatial Design

I have acted as producer-curator for a variety of collaborative spatial design projects (from public art to interior design). My role has involved: artist curation and liaison, design development, material sourcing, support with production and community engagement.

Examples of artists and spaces:

Camille Walala - large-scale corner facade mural in Hackney for Well Street Market – E9 (2016).

Antonis Papamichael - I curated Antonis as the lead artist and supported the production of a radical transformation at the DIY club space The Cause in Tottenham (2019). A black box room was transformed into a pink neon CAD-gaming-rave space.

I programmed a cross-disciplinary launch event centred on art and music with an exhibition showcasing various artists, and a drop-in drawing activity area.

Later on the space was utilised as a backdrop for a fashion shoot and immersive play space, a collaboration with Cydney Eva from PatternNation (a fashion and art label based in Canada and South Africa).

Radio Host/DJ

Hosted by Cath Colour Carver on London’s community station Netil Radio (2020-24), the COLOURWORXX show from Colour Your City was a colourful collage of a show, reflecting multi-hued conversations about colour, art and cities, with genre-fluid music curation. Cath has also guested on Threads Radio, Margate Radio, and Resonance 104.4 FM.

A selection of favourite radio shows are featured below… (with the full archive available here):
