Here are some pictures from our landmark project at The Cause, which helped spark our first season of Pink Portals exploration for COLOURWORXX. Huge respect to artist Antonis Papamichael for leading the redesign, and creating an iconic room for the Tottenham DIY venue.
This launch event explored the neon city, the enduring appeal of retrowave, and clubs being portals to other realities too.
Colour Your City collaborated with The OS Community, Train Journey Music and True Color to provide a genre-crossing experience. Blending visual and sonic art, the event featured the unveiling of Room 2 from Antonis Papamicheal, alongside an exhibition of work from Hannah Iheoma Place, Greg Abbott, Tree Carr and Wumzum. There was also live art, a workshop, open mic and digital art immersion.
The Cause is a DIY space which celebrates dance music culture, London nightlife, independent business and positive mental health. Their meanwhile use Tottenham site was a former car mechanics depot with a thriving ecosystem of independent business and community radio station Threads. ART WORXX from Colour Your City brought together artists from across disciplines to transform space and maximise its creative potential, facilitating collaboration, artist development, creative skill sharing, and participatory opportunities for expression and development. It’s a format we’d love to do again.
